Most people have heard of magnet schools and charter schools, but now the Triangle has its first ever recovery high school. Wake Monarch Academy will welcome its initial group of students in just a few weeks.
Wake Monarch Academy held a ribbon cutting ceremony June 30 to celebrate its upcoming August opening for the 2021–22 school year.
For years now, parents Leah and Jimmy Wright have been working to establish a high school for teens dealing with substance abuse and drug addiction.
Wake Monarch Academy is located inside the Open Table United Methodist Church. Its ribbon cutting was held Wednesday morning. You’ll find comfortable classrooms and encouraging words welcoming students as they walk in.
